Sermorelin is the acetate salt of GHRH(1-29)-NH2, the shortest fragment of growth-hormone-releasing hormone that retains full biological activity 2. It stimulates GH secretion from pituitary somatotrophs via the GHRH receptor.
Sermorelin has been used clinically both as a diagnostic agent for GH-secretory capacity and as a treatment in children with GH deficiency; a review of its use summarises the clinical pharmacology 1.
