LL-37 is the sole human member of the cathelicidin family of antimicrobial peptides, cleaved from the precursor hCAP18. It is an amphipathic α-helical peptide expressed by neutrophils, epithelial cells and keratinocytes.

Beyond direct broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, LL-37 is characterised as a chemoattractant, an inducer of angiogenesis and a modulator of wound repair and innate immune signalling 1.
